Breaking the previous record of 20 to 30 years, it is reported that Olive
Ridley turtle has laid 45,000 eggs on Goa beach. According to the
Forest Department of Goa, due to conservation and hatching efforts, this number
is more than double compared to last year.

During this time they are in great danger from fishing
trawlers. Many a times a large number of Olive Ridley turtles get injured and
even killed by these trawlers. This increases the threat to the existence of
