Students have protested in Haridwar holding placards like let Ganga flow in Haridwar, let the college remain government, let education remain in government hands, do not privatize it, imparting education is government's responsibility etc. Haridwar is situated in Uttaranchal state and there is BJP government in Uttaranchal. Here these medical students have protested against the sudden handing over of government medical college to private hands.

The news is that this college of Haridwar is being given to a trust named Sharda. This trust has been in news earlier also. Knowledgeable people are looking at it from the point of view of a big scam. That is, this college has been built on government expenses. It has come to light that about one and a half thousand crore rupees of public money has been spent in this.

The college was first built on government expenses and students were admitted in the name of government college and now the government is going to make this college private. If we see, then this BJP government of Uttaranchal has become a contractor due to this incident. Now the government will build a college, enroll students in it and then sell it to private people. This is not the work of the government, which this BJP government is doing.

On this, the students have clearly said that we had taken admission in a government college and will get the degree of a government college only. We do not want a private tag on our degree. For this, we will protest wherever and however much we have to. We have passed the medical admission exam with so much hard work and after that get a degree from a private college, this is completely wrong.
